Scars | Original Hurricane Katrina Artwork

This is my Hurricane Katrina artwork, and of all my paintings of New Orleans, it's the one closest to home.

It's about Charity Hospital, which never reopened after the storm. For a lot of people here, that's where you were born, where you got stitched up, where you went when there was nowhere else to go. Scars don't go away. They become part of you.

It's an original acrylic on canvas, 18x24, signed and one of one, with a certificate of authenticity. It's sized for a living room, an office or a hallway where people will stop and ask about it. It's for the New Orleanian who remembers, for anyone who collects work by New Orleans artists, or for someone who's moved away and misses home.
