Who’s That Guy With the Dreads and the Headphones?
I’m a New Orleans artist, podcaster, and badass.
I’ve always had a sketchpad, but I wanted to be a musician. Shortly after realizing my high school band, Taichiwawa, had all the looks and drive and none of the talent, I accepted I probably wasn’t the next Sam Cooke.
But that didn’t stop my love of music. My rhyme book might be indecipherable notes about my next piece, but every day I get up, slide my headphones over my ears, and flow with the sounds to create visual music. My work represents the way the right sound at the right time can move us all. Like music, art should be something you feel in your soul.
Being from New Orleans, I’m also a different kind of artist. My process infuses the culture on the streets, the music that turns up after the old folks leave the cookout, and that feeling of satisfaction from making a perfect roux. My art doesn’t look like your mama’s Thomas Kinkade gallery — and I’d bet I don’t move like him, either.
